About us
The River Thames Water Quality Testing Group is operated by volunteers who enjoy swimming, paddle-boarding and boating, and are concerned about the water quality in the River Thames and the lack of up-to-date information. Together with a number of organisations with similar concerns, we conduct tests at a number of places on the river between Oxford and Teddington.
These tests are for a variety of indicators and pathogens, including nitrates, phosphates, turbidity (water clarity), temperature, pH, ammonia, oxygen, e.coli and intestinal enterococci. See "Explain readings" and "Links" for more information.
We have created this website to share these test results for E.coli and intestinal enterococci so that river users can be better informed about water quality. All users of the River Thames should make their own assessment of the safety of entering the water or using the river for recreational purposes but hopefully this information will help them make a more informed decision. Please read the full legal disclosures.
